Hello, my name is Dominic, and I’m the owner of Tuffy’s. Here at Tuffy’s, we believe in making your dream PC a reality. With over 12 years of experience, I am committed to providing top-notch computer building services. You might be wondering why we’re called Tuffy’s – well, it’s a nod to my dad, whose nickname was Tuffy during his time in Vietnam. My dad is my hero, and I fondly remember running to him to share the latest cool programs I coded or websites I developed, always amazed by his enthusiasm, even at 80 years old.
At Tuffy’s, we are more than just a computer building service – we are a community-driven company. We proudly support our local police and fire departments, offering discounts as a tribute to my dad’s 33 years of service with the Chicago Police Force. Despite facing numerous challenges, including being shot twice in battle and twice on the streets of Chicago, and enduring ten heart attacks and a double bypass, my dad embodies resilience and strength, traits that inspire me to create computers as tough as him.
In addition to computer building, we also provide a range of other services, which can be found on our website under “Services.” We also offer discounts to senior citizens and individuals serving or retired from the military as a token of appreciation for their service. I am grateful for the unwavering support of my wife, whose encouragement has been instrumental in the growth of this company. Together, we are dedicated to empowering and improving the lives of our customers by building their dream computers. Our Story
Hello, I'm Dominic, a lifelong Chicagoan. My upbringing in a 100% Italian household was a mix of rough, good, and sad times, but it was always real. My dad, a retired army and police officer, became the epitome of laid-back after my mom's cancer battle led to his retirement in 2006. My earliest memory? Sitting on the floor of our home, watching Arnold Schwarzenegger movies with my dad—those were the days!
My parents, bless them, gave me the freedom to explore, so I dove into action movies, comedy, and eventually hip-hop, thanks to an Eminem CD that opened up a whole new world for me. Growing up, I often felt like an outsider due to my mental illness, but with the unwavering support of my incredible wife Kateland, I've learned to navigate life's challenges.
Kateland and I met online when we were just teens. Fast forward to age 22, we reconnected, and by 23, we were married. She's not just my partner; she's my rock, always guiding me towards the best version of myself.
My love for computers and technology started young. At age 10, I was already tinkering with tech, even figuring out how to hack into AT&T for internet access on my phone. Though my parents weren't thrilled with my hacking adventure, they couldn't deny my passion. In 2022, my mom surprised me with a gaming laptop for Christmas, reigniting my love for coding.
I took this as a sign and dove back into coding, taking Skillshare classes and earning certifications. This newfound dedication led me to start Tuffy's, a PC company, in 2023. At Tuffy’s, I bring years of experience and a commitment to excellence. Fix a computer with a virus - $30
Ram upgrade on Mac laptops - $30 plus fee for part which depends on your MacBook
You want help picking out a new part for your computer and having me install it - $45
This includes GPU, CPU, storage, fans, anything on the PC
Want help picking out parts for your next build and just need advice? You can have access to me until we are finished and you are happy with your PC build list. I'll go over anything with you, what games you play, what do you want this PC to mainly do, and we will pick out the best parts for your next build, but you build it - $60
Want me just to build your PC? You got the parts, just need someone to build it - $125 plus the parts you provide
Want expert guidance? I'll come to you after we've chosen parts and you have bought them. I'll come to you and show you every step, help guide you through the build every step of the way till it's finished and working and set up. This includes setting up Windows and overclocking if needed. This is for people that just want help through the whole process - $200 plus the parts you bought
